Abstract

Citizens are the main city actors, and the degree to which people enjoy urban spaces and its facilities determines their city rights. urban spaces and gender are among the most important to determine city rights. A sample of 680 people was collected from Ahvaz and they were asked questions about the important indicators of the right to the city, such as the allocation of space, the right to security, participation in city management, and social support. CA and MANOVA were used for data analysis. The results showed that Ahvaz areas no.2 and 3 are in the to privileged spectrum, areas no.1 and 4 are in the semi-privileged spectrum, and areas no.5, 6, 7, 8 are in the deprived. The findings showed that the gender is a determining factor in having the city right, so that the average women city right Ahvaz is 22.5 and for men 36. Also, residential spaces are also effective in changing the city right. so that the average city right in the Ahvaz privileged areas is 30 units higher than the deprived. As a result, gender is a determining factor for the city right in the Ahvaz citizens so policy makers and urban planners should pay attention to the citizens individual differences, including gender, and have a specific plan for the proper space allocation, securing spaces, and increasing urban participation. Also, they should emphasis on the better city spaces design, citizens support, and optimal management in order to divide Ahvaz's urban space fairly based on gender.
