Abstract

One of the necessities of urban planning is to control the rapid expansion of the city in its peripheral areas, which unbalances and unbalances fertile lands and industrial and mineral soils under urban constructions, and this issue leads to numerous risks in economic and environmental fields. has brought. Therefore, in the present research, by choosing the city of Urmia as a case study and at a specified peripheral distance from the city of Urmia, it has been tried to address the spatial analysis of land suitability in relation to continuous and discontinuous urban development. The software used in this research is IDRISI Selva and ArcGIS software. In the current research, weighted linear combination (WLC) operations have been implemented in Idrisi selva environment to determine land suitability in connection with continuous and discontinuous urban development and within the framework of the MCE (Muiti-Criteria evaluation) module. The results of the implementation of the WLC method is a prioritized map of land suitability for continuous and discontinuous urban development. Examining the status of the priority pixels specified in the land suitability map, in terms of each criteria used in determining the suitability of land in connection with continuous and discontinuous urban development, also shows the desirability of the pixels' condition in terms of the mentioned criteria. The control of the status of the priority pixels shows that the fuzzy standard score of these pixels is more than 170 in most of the criteria, which is in accordance with the needs and taking into account the limitations and taking into account the considerations of multi-purpose use of Land, while paying attention to the capacities of internal and intermediate urban development, can be considered for allocation to continuous and discontinuous urban development.
