Abstract
The major health challenge in the 20th century was to survive, whereas living with greater conditions is the major challenge in the current era. Elderliness is a critical stage of life when there is a social call for considering its needs as to improve quality of life of elders. The present study is mainly concerned with quality of life of elders in urban areas of Neyshabour. To this end, 150 Elders of Neyshabour County were selected and studied using multi-stage cluster sampling. The conceptual framework is a merger of quality of life theories and sociological theories of ageing. The researches findings suggest that about 40% of urban elders are satisfied with their quality of life. The results of factor analysis in urban regions identify 10 key factors for determining the subjective dimensions of quality of life, which explain 73.147% of total variance. Regression analysis results in urban regions reveal that 4 factors of liveliness, social cohesion, participation in collective and religious activities, and social relations which explained 57.9% of changes in quality of life. Therefore, according to the study can be concluded that to improve the quality of life elderly in urban areas, there is attention and action in Identified factors.
