Abstract
This study aimed to use the descriptive-analytical method to evaluate the impacts of TV programs of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which promote the urban and regional lifestyle in their messages and content, on the citizens’ enjoyment level of the sense of spatial attachment in Districts 1, 12, and 20 of Tehran metropolis. Therefore, considering the mission of the television channels, the outstanding programs of Channel 2 and Tehran Channel were evaluated. Since the selected districts were different in terms of geographical situation, economic indices, citizens’ income level, and lifestyle, Districts 1, 12, and 20 were selected as the high-class, medium-class, and low-class districts of Tehran, respectively. The results of multivariate ANOVA showed that the TV programs had different impacts on the spatial attachment index in the studied districts. In addition, the fuzzy TOPSIS (FTOPSIS) model was used to analyze the media priority for improving the spatial attachment index in these districts. Accordingly, the promotion of the citizenship lifestyle component in TV programs had the highest impact in the three selected districts. Thus, television can improve the sense of spatial attachment through producing programs with a citizenship lifestyle improvement approach.
