Abstract
Issues of safety and security in urban transport have been the interest of transportation planners for decades. Perceptions of personal safety are believed to have a significant influence on public transport ridership. therefore, The main purpose of this research is to investigate the level of safety and security of Namazi subway station in Shiraz city from the point of view of its users. the present study is applied in terms of purpose, practical and according to nature and method, it is descriptive of survey type. the information required based on documentary and survey(questionnaire) methods have been prepared. The statistical population of the research is the users of Namazi subway station in Shiraz in 2023. The Cochran's formula was used to calculate the sample size, according to which the sample size was estimated to be 200 persons A simple random method was used to distribute the questionnaire. data collected based on descriptive and inferential statistics methods have been analyzed.The results showed that the level of security in Shiraz's Namazi subway station is higher than the average with a coefficient of 3.68.The security level of women with a coefficient of 3.63 is higher than the average, although it is at a lower level than the security level of men with a coefficient of 3.73,but this difference was not statistically significant.Among the safety indicators, verbal harassment or insults with a coefficient of 3.36 have the worst situation in the view of female users in Namazi subway station in Shiraz city.Also, other results of the research showed that the psychological characteristics of the users, the environmental characteristics of the station, and the individual characteristics of the users, respectively, had the greatest effect on the perception of the safety of the users of the Shiraz Namazi subway station with coefficients of 0.56, 0.41, and 0.40.
