Abstract
Abstract: For the successful implementation of tourism development, the support of residents is essential. The present study attempts to examine the relationships between the positive and negative economic, environmental, and social impacts of tourism, satisfaction with the place, attachment to the place, mental health, attitude toward tourism, support for tourism, and behavioral intentions (revisit and recommendation). The questions asked of the residents of Rasht are divided into two categories. The first category includes demographic questions, and the second category includes items of the research components. This study consists of nine components as follows: positive and negative economic impacts of tourism, positive and negative environmental impacts of tourism, positive and negative social impacts of tourism, mental health, attachment to the place, satisfaction with the place, attitude toward tourism, support for tourism, and behavioral intentions. 390 citizens of Rasht completed the questionnaire for the present study, and Smart Pls and Spss software were used to analyze the data. In the present study, 48% of the respondents were female and 52% were male. Also, most of the respondents are in the age range of 20 to 29 years. The age range of 70 to 79 years has the lowest frequency. The results of the present study indicate that the effect of social effects of tourism on attachment to place, satisfaction and mental health is positive and significant. The effect of environmental effects of tourism on attitude towards tourism is also positive and significant. According to the findings of the study, attitude partially mediates the relationship between social effects and support for tourism (60%). Attitude partially mediates the relationship between environmental effects and support for tourism (35%). The results of the present study can help urban management in achieving sustainable tourism.
