Abstract

Smart urban transportation, relying on modern technologies, plays a key role in enhancing the resilience and unparalleled strength of urban communication networks. In this regard, 9 main indicators (including 35 sub-indicators) related to smart urban transportation have been used, including the dimensions of infrastructure-technical, safety and security, management, economic, legal, physical, communication and information, environmental and socio-cultural. Also, to measure the resilience of communication networks, 5 indicators (including 21 sub-indicators) have been examined, which include the resilience of motorized traffic, the resilience of pedestrians and cyclists, the resilience of the street against natural disasters, the resilience of citizens against crime, and the resilience against adverse weather conditions. In fact, this study attempts to evaluate the role of smart urban transportation network on the resilience of communication networks in Kermanshah city using the structural equation modeling (SEM) method. The statistical population of the present study was 384 citizens of Kermanshah city and the research tools were analyzed with correlation analysis and structural equation modeling methods using SPSS and SMART PLS software. The results of structural equation modeling indicate a strong and significant relationship (P<0.05) between smart transportation indicators and the resilience of communication networks, which indicates that with increasing somatization of urban transportation, the level of resilience of communication networks increases. In addition, the model fit indices also show that the data are well consistent with the conceptual model of the research and have the necessary fit, which confirms that the proposed model is able to correctly explain the relationship between the variables under study. Finally, the results showed that in the field of resilience of communication networks, the street resilience index against natural disasters and in the field of somatization of urban transportation, the management index have obtained the first rank, and the economic
